Meet Twisted Yarns The technique you didn’t know your knitted fabrics needed!

From the first touch to the way the garment wears over time, the yarn’s structure plays a key role in defining the quality of the fabric. Among the many yarn techniques available, twisted yarns stand out as a subtle yet powerful way to elevate both luxurious appearance and performance.

"At first glance, regular and twisted yarns might look similar, but the impact they have on the final fabric is remarkably different."
- Sílvia Lourenço, Portfolio Manager

While a regular yarn is made by spinning fibers together just enough to hold them in place, twisted yarns go a step further! After spinning, they are given an additional twist (either S- or Z-direction), which compacts the fibers and changes the yarn’s behavior. This results in a more refined and durable yarn, ideal for high-quality knits.

Top 5 benefits of Twisted Yarns

1 | Enhanced Softness 🪶Twisting aligns the fibers more evenly, which reduces friction between them, creating a smoother and silkier handfeel.
2 | Improved Fabric Stability 🪢 Knits made with twisted yarns have less distortion and maintain their shape better over time.
3 | Premium Appearance 🔎
Twisted yarns give the surface of the fabric a cleaner, more polished, and luxurious look.
4 | Reduced Pilling ⌛ This type of yarn is less prone to pilling, which helps preserve the fabric’s original appearance for longer.
5 | Better Drape 👚 The compactness of twisted yarns allows the knit to drape more fluidly, adding elegance and sophistication to the final garment.
